Most Absurd Snow Pictures Ever - More Snow Humor

This was BEFORE the Valentines Day Storm...

Snow mound at MIT, dubbed "The Alps of MIT".  It is 5-stories high.

Today, they tried to start bus service and rail service again in a few places.  Didn't go well. This one is totally stuck in Cambridge as the roads aren't wide enough anymore to turn.  And note that the snow banks are as tall as the bus!

How desperate are we here in Boston?  Well, if you are able bodied and willing to shovel the MBTA is paying $30/hour to anyone willing to dig out the tracks.  They even emptied the jails for labor.  Seriously, I am not joking.

That is pretty nasty to look at down the rails.  Never ends.
We just poked a hole in our ceiling to reduce the risk of the whole thing coming down.  We took out several gallons of water.  So it is a good thing that they are stationing boats at every corner now.

We started to bring in boats - if this all melts we will need the arks!  (There is a boat show in town and they got them stuck in the snow causing horrible traffic - my neighbor got home at 9pm that night - 3 hours to go 10 miles).
Did I mention that it will be snowing when I get up tomorrow morning?

  1. Oh, man. I am so glad I don't live in Boston any more. Good luck with the roof. Hope spring is just around the corner! After all, we got five inches overnight and it won't get above freezing for another week or so.

  2. I always wondered how glaciers got started! You have all my sympathy, and I hope it warms up soon.

  3. Your ongoing commentary on the snow in Boston is priceless. I am also happy (only at the moment ) not to be living there as well. Your beautiful home taking a beating has to be the worst part of it all. Hang in there!

  4. Thanks Karen - to add insult to injury the toilet is now leaking and my car is deader than a doornail. AAA is at 5 hour wait right now. I am praying for a dead battery. ha ha

  5. I am 'enjoying' your updates on the snow situation... crazy stuff. I hope your house survives OK and that the car really is just a flat battery.

  6. I work right around the corner from that snow mountain. I'll have to pay it a visit, if I ever actually go into my office again, what with school being cancelled and not wanting to drive in a snow storm. We put a hole in our ceiling, too.

  7. LOL tricia,
just put your robot team to work on a solution for BOTH th eroof and the snow removal!

  8. LOL...How about some heat related weather humor..
